Baths for the Brave is Calm Water Bath's way of giving back to the veterans and service members of South Jersey. Through community nominations, we help create a bathroom built around dignity, safety, and ease for someone who has given so much. Helping make daily life a little calmer is the least we can do.

Why We Serve

At Calm Water Bath, we believe a safe, comfortable bathroom is something every person deserves. That is especially true for the people who protected ours. A bathroom should be a place of ease and dignity, never a daily worry.

The heart of this program is simple: gratitude for their service, dignity in their everyday, and accessibility that lets them stay comfortable and independent at home. For someone who has given so much, helping create that calm is a small way to say thank you.

Program Overview & Eligibility

Baths for the Brave is a nomination-based program. Our South Jersey community nominates a deserving veteran or service member, our team reviews each nomination with care, and a selected recipient receives a bathroom remodel focused on safety and accessibility, completed in as little as one day.

Who can be honored:

• The person honored is a U.S. military veteran or active service member.
• They live within Calm Water Bath's service area: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, or Salem County.
• They own their home, or rent with written permission from the property owner.
• Their bathroom presents a safety or accessibility need, for example difficulty stepping over a tub wall, balance or mobility concerns, or aging in place.
• Nominations may be submitted by the veteran, or by a family member, neighbor, friend, fellow service member, or caregiver.

How Nomination Works

2. Our team reviews each nomination with care.
3. If selected, we reach out gently to talk through next steps, with no pressure at any point.
4. We design and complete the remodel around the recipient's needs, often in a single day.

Veteran & Family Story Submission

Behind every nomination is a story. We invite nominators and families to share what a safer, more accessible bathroom would mean for the veteran in their life. There is no wrong way to share it, and every nomination is read with care.

Who can be nominated?

Any U.S. military veteran or active service member who lives in our South Jersey service area and could benefit from a safer, more accessible bathroom.

Who can submit a nomination?

Anyone. The veteran themselves, or a family member, neighbor, friend, fellow service member, or caregiver.

Does it cost anything to nominate?

No. Submitting a nomination is free and carries no obligation.

What areas do you serve?

Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties in South Jersey.

What does the remodel include?

Work is tailored to the recipient's needs and may include a tub-to-shower conversion, a walk-in shower, a walk-in tub, and accessibility features such as low-threshold entry, seating, and grab bars. Most installations are completed in as little as one day.

How are recipients selected?

Our team reviews every nomination with care and selects recipients based on need, the impact a safer bathroom would have, and fit within our service area.

What happens after I submit?

We review your nomination, and if we are able to move forward, we reach out gently to talk through next steps, with no pressure at any point.

Is the veteran obligated to anything?

No. There is no cost or obligation to the veteran or the person nominating.

Timeline & Selection Process

Nominations are welcome year-round. Our team reviews submissions on a rolling basis and selects recipients periodically throughout the year. Selection is based on need, the difference a safer bathroom would make, and fit within our service area. Selected recipients are contacted directly, and the remodel is scheduled at a time that works for them.

Before-and-After Showcase

As Baths for the Brave projects are completed, this section will feature before-and-after transformations of the bathrooms we have had the honor to remodel, sharing the difference a safer, more accessible space can make.
